“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”-Vince Lombardi
Day 13 – Commitment
All successful basketball players make the time to work out. Whether it’s in the morning, afternoon or evening. If you want to improve, you better be willing to commit yourself to training. When you finally make up your mind to take the plunge, you need to understand a few things.
If you tell a teammate you will meet them at the gym to work out, you better be there.
Commit yourself to all areas of the game; shooting, dribbling, lifting weights, running and most important, your attitude.
Keep your word, don’t miss workouts. Show up and be ready to work hard. Stay determined to reach your goals.
What’s your level of commitment? Do you go all out in your workouts, practices, in games? Do you empty your tank?
Commitment does not guarantee success; but lack of it will guarantee you don’t make it.
Your ability can only take you so far – the choice to work harder than everyone else gets you to your goals. It wins you championships, playing time and it wins your teammates over.
Commit to hitting the open man during games. Commit to being a better practice player. Commit to becoming a better defender, a better rebounder; commit to sprinting the floor, drawing a charge and most of all, commit to having a great attitude.
Strive for a commitment to excellence. Commit to be the best.
