Day 32: Sleep

How much sleep did you get last night?

It seems like 24 hours in a day just isn't enough some times.  You wake up early to go to school or work, get in the gym to get your shots up and do your skill work. You lift and condition three days a week.  Add to that your family and homework responsibilities and before you no it, it's getting pretty late.

Did you know that science has shown that sleep extension improves basketball performance.  In a study by The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society, freethrow percentage and sprint times both improved after extra sleep. (To read the article click here.)

Improvements were shown in many other sports as well.

Next time that it's starting to get a little too late, remember that the amount of sleep you get effects how you will perform on the court or on the field.
